Carta a los y las Bautistas.
La guerra y los asesinatos de Trump y Netanyahu, se sienten y viven diferente desde quienes estamos en el Sur Global. Siempre hemos sido víctimas de invasiones, bombardeos y amenazas de USA, sin importar si el que lo hace es Demócrata o Republicano. No importa si la guerra es por petróleo, por democracia o en nombre de Dios. Los golpes son diferentes si vives en el país que los da, o en el país que los recibe.

Israel y USA bombardean Irán y matan a 160 niñas, la pregunta no es de que lado estás. Eso hace que la postura cristiana frente a la guerra sea tibia. La guerra hay que pararla y punto. Vietnam fue eso, todos exigiendo que USA deje de bombardear. La guerra hay que pararla y punto. La lucha por los Derechos civiles del Reverendo King fue eso, no importa si eres negro o blanco, los derechos son para todos. Por que la guerra hay que pararla y punto.

Pero ahora NO. Ahora, antes de oponernos a la guerra que mata niños/as, ancianos y mujeres, y que destruye la naturaleza, discutimos si es más terrible el pedófilo que dispara o el extremista que se defiende. Olvidamos que la guerra hay que pararla y punto.

Por ello, frente a la guerra contra Irán, no podemos guardar silencio, más cuando líderes fascistas ponen en riesgo a toda la humanidad. Es otra vez la misma historia, USA bombardeando musulmanes, disparando a indios o cubanos, criminalizando mexicanos o coreanos. En nombre de la Supremacía blanca y defendiendo el modo de vida estadounidense.

Guardar silencio es permitir que el gobierno de USA, siga dando golpes. Callar es dejar que los seguidores de Epstein sigan bombardeando. La guerra hay que pararla y punto.

Como cristiano que vive, habita y lucha desde el sur global, el silencio de la mayoría de cristianos, lastima. Por eso Exijo que ese silencio frente a la guerra, no sea en nuestro nombre.

Letter to Baptists.
The war and murders perpetrated by Trump and Netanyahu are felt and experienced differently by those of us in the Global South. We have always been victims of invasions, bombings, and threats from the USA, regardless of whether the perpetrator is a Democrat or a Republican. It doesn't matter if the war is for oil, for democracy, or in the name of God. The strikes are different depending on whether you live in the country delivering them or the country receiving them.

Israel and the USA bomb Iran and kill 160 girls; the question isn't which side you're on. This makes the Christian stance on war seem lukewarm. War must stop, period. Vietnam was about that: everyone demanding that the USA stop bombing. War must stop, period. Reverend King's fight for civil rights was about that: it doesn't matter if you're Black or white, rights are for everyone. Because war must stop, period.

But now, NO. Now, instead of opposing the war that kills children, the elderly, and women, and that destroys nature, we argue about whether the pedophile who shoots or the extremist who defends himself is more terrible. We forget that war must be stopped, period.

Therefore, in the face of the war against Iran, we cannot remain silent, especially when fascist leaders are endangering all of humanity. It's the same old story: the USA bombing Muslims, shooting at Indians or Cubans, criminalizing Mexicans or Koreans. In the name of white supremacy and defending the American way of life.

To remain silent is to allow the US government to continue its attacks. To be silent is to let Epstein's followers continue bombing. War must be stopped, period.

As a Christian who lives, inhabits, and fights from the Global South, the silence of most Christians is painful. That is why I demand that this silence in the face of war not be in our name.
