About

The Baptist Peacemaker (BP) is the journal for the BPFNA~Bautistas por la Paz. We focus on issues of peacemaking, peacemakers, community struggles, social justice, and theological stories happening around the globe. Authors and contributors are pastors, church leaders, academics, and everyday people who just want to share their stories of peace, rooted in justice. We strive to provide continuous, high-quality material that inspires and challenges people to think, imagine, and dream of the possibilities for peacemaking in their local contexts.

Our history dates back to December, 1980, when students and faculty at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary published the first issue. Robert Broome first suggested the idea, which was met at first with some skepticism. As Glenn Stassen remembers it,

“Who would subscribe to a peacemaking newspaper for Southern Baptists? But Robert Broome had vision, and he had persistence . . . [We] gave in to Robert’s vision.”

Glenn Hinson became the first editor. Since then, the BP has kept on providing exciting and valuable content. We urge you to subscribe to BP so that you can enjoy our stories and articles, as well as our upcoming diverse publications.
